What kind of movies do you show?
Mostly independent/art house films — new and not so new.  Always interesting stuff, though. We occasionally throw in classic and cult film just to keep things interesting.

How do you find your movies?
We spend a great deal of time researching upcoming independent films and films that have already been released but have missed Phoenix.

Don’t you know you have to pay for those films you’re showing?
Absolutely. We pay a considerable fee to bring you great quality films. We strongly believe artists should be paid for their work — especially the cash-strapped ones we mostly deal with.

How much are tickets?
Full price tickets are $7.00. Matinées are $5.00(anything starting before 6pm)!

How can I buy tickets?
You can purchase your tickets from any staff member (usually your bartender). Just belly up to the bar and ask!

Do you sell tickets online?
Occasionally.  If a film will possibly sell out regularly, we will offer tickets online.

Do I need to buy a ticket to enter the bar?
Not at all! You can (and should!) just swing by for a drink, if you’re not in the mood for a film.

Do you have Gift Cards?
Yes — and at any denomination! Just ask your bartender for details.

Do you take or do I need reservations?
Currently, reservations haven’t been needed. But, as with any theater, we recommend showing up early to get the best seats:-)

Hey Shorty, it’s my birthday!
We’ve got a present for you! Come on down for a free ticket to a show on your birthday!

How did you come up with this idea?
FilmBar was conceived and is owned by Kelly Aubey — a disgruntled ex computer programmer who, inspired by theaters he experienced while travelling, got tired of waiting for a great place to watch a movie and who believes that the people of Phoenix are ready for the increasingly impressive culture that downtown Phoenix offers.

The idea came to him 35,000 feet in the air while flying to LA for a business trip.
