Included (in chronological screening order) are:
The Land Beyond the Sunset
A young boy, oppressed by his grandmother, goes on a country outing with a social welfare group, where he dares to dream of a fairyland where the cares of ordinary life fade. (1912 - drama/fantasy - 14 mins)
The Impossible Voyage
A satire of scientific exploration in which a group of geographers attempt a journey into the interior of the sun, in Georges Méliès' popular follow-up to his highly successful A Trip to the Moon. (1904 - fantasy/sci-fi - 20 mins)
The High Sign
Buster Keaton plays a drifter who cons his way into working at an amusement park shooting gallery. Believing he's an expert marksman, both the murderous gang Blinking Buzzards and the man they want to kill end up hiring him. (1921 - comedy - 20 mins)
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
"In Kansas, Dorothy is chased by Hank the mule, she runs off into a field and discovers that the family scarecrow is alive...", and so begins her journey to Land of Oz, in the earliest surviving film version of L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel. (1910 - fantasy - 14 mins)
The RPM Orchestra traveling Silent Film Shorts Cinema, featuring a rotating collection of vintage shorts, premiered at Miami Loco Arts Festival 2018, in Miami AZ, with more recent screenings at Phoenix Art Museum and the Jerome Indie Film and Music Festival.
This FilmBar edition highlights four movies never before scored by the PHX-based proto-Industrial Americana music quintet... until now!
